Increase your RevPAR
Hosting three instead of two guests in a double room or create a family room in a large suite… Easy peasy! With (an) extra bed(s) you can welcome extra guests in almost every room. There are several names for a removable bed, such as upright bed, folding bed or rollaway bed. Similar terms, but yet all with the same purpose. The rollaway bed is not part of the standard room set up but hidden away in storage and can be prepared for the night and increases RevPAR in a snap.
Different models
Most extra beds are foldable when they are stored, the name says it already. Other are to be stored unfolded, so in stand up position which is much better for the mattress and so improves the sleeping quality of your guests. When folding beds are stored for a longer time the mattress will have a crease in the middle which decreases the comfort.
- Note: when purchasing roll away beds please keep your size of storage in mind. This can lead to the right decision of the model, stand up or foldable.
The roll away beds have different options when it comes to the base. The well-known slate base, spiral base or wooden MDF. The big advantage of a slate base bed is that slates can be replaced easily and is cost effective at the same time. The number of slates is important as well. The more the better we say. Whereas a spiral base gives better ventilation and temperature control as well as equal support.
The mattress
Part of the quality and comfort of a rollaway bed is the mattress on top of the base. Several models have a foam mattress and the more luxurious types are equipped with a spring mattress. A foam mattress gives a standard comfort, the spring mattress is similar to the quality of your standard hotel bed.
Mattresses can vary in thickness. Obviously rule number one is the higher the better. You have to take into consideration that the type of mattress is important when choosing a roll away bed. The comfort is totally different if you have a 10 cm high foam mattress of a 12 high spring mattress.
Extra features
The heardboard has an added value if the bed cannot be placed to a wall. The wall of headboard will avoid the head cushion to fall on the floor, which can be annoying for your guest.
Most extra beds on the market have a maximum length of 190 cm, whereas a normal bed, at home or in the hotel, have a length of 200 of even 210 cm. The size of 190 cm is seen as a small bed. With people getting taller over the years we would advised you to use a 200 or 210 cm if you have the space for it. We offer various models with a length of 200 cm or even more.
A fancy extra feature is an adjustable head end. This might not even be a standard feature on your hotel beds, but can give this extra luxurious feel for the hotel guests sleeping on it. Just keep in mind that is is not hotel proof.
For most of our rollaway beds we have a cover included. The cover protects the bed from stains and damage and improves the hygiene and lifespan of the bed. For some models we have the cover on request. We are happy to assist if you need any help.
